When bbv Software Services AG decided to expand into AI solutions in 2023, I joined as Senior AI Consultant to architect and build the new business area. My background in AI research, startup founding, and technical leadership positioned me to bridge technology and business strategy.
The Swiss AI Hub is complete infrastructure for production AI that organizations own and control. Unlike SaaS subscriptions or code libraries, it provides Azure AI-level completeness with full ownership: authentication, monitoring, databases, UIs, everything included.
Open-source foundation. Built on best-in-class open-source tools: LiteLLM for model serving, Milvus for vector search, LlamaIndex for retrieval. When the ecosystem evolves, clients benefit. No vendor lock-in, no licensing fees, no platform constraints.
Strategic independence. Deploy anywhere: on-premise, Swiss data centers, your cloud. Use local models or cloud APIs. Switch providers without code changes. True sovereignty over data and infrastructure, critical for Swiss organizations with regulatory requirements.
30-minute deployment. One command deploys everything: LLM gateway, vector search, chat interface, authentication, monitoring. Pre-built agents work immediately. No cloud provisioning, no complex setup, no infrastructure engineering required.
Transparency over black boxes. Every agent follows explicit workflows. Every decision is traceable and auditable. Every cost is tracked. Built for Swiss standards where understanding why AI gave an answer matters as much as the answer itself.
Collaborative strength. Swiss organizations share infrastructure while competing on innovation. Contribute improvements, benefit from others' work. Build together what no single organization could afford alone.
I architected and led a team of 5 engineers in developing the Swiss AI Hub, an enterprise-grade platform for deploying multimodal autonomous agent applications. I designed the core infrastructure using an event-driven microservices architecture with Python, FastAPI, Docker, and Dagster, supporting on-premise and cloud deployments for over 10 enterprise clients.
The platform integrates best-in-class open-source tools: LiteLLM for unified model serving across providers, Milvus for vector search and retrieval, and LlamaIndex for document processing and agent orchestration. I engineered the model-serving stack leveraging vLLM, llama.cpp, and LiteLLM to support open-source models (Gemma, Qwen) with quantization for efficient inference on client-side GPUs.
I drove technical strategy and pre-sales engineering, defining the product roadmap and business model that established a new revenue-generating AI business unit with strategic independence from vendor lock-in.
I recruit and develop AI talent combining technical depth with business thinking. Through webinars, presentations, and pre-sales engagements, I position bbv as an AI solutions partner. I work closely with CEO Philipp Kronenberg, AI Business Area Lead Stefan Haeberling, and former co-lead Alan Ettlin to build market presence.
This role combines AI solution development, technical team leadership, and business area strategy. Building a business area from inception allows me to operate at both technical and strategic levels, applying AI innovation to enterprise contexts.
The AI Business Area is a division founded in 2023 at bbv Software Services, specializing in enterprise AI solution development and implementation. The Swiss AI Hub is the core platform: an open-source infrastructure for production AI that organizations own and control, providing strategic independence from Big Tech while enabling rapid deployment and transparent operations.
